While some buildings require significant Solar Control (ie. blocking a lot of the heat from the sun from coming inside the building – seen as a lower SHGC glass value) it is important to look at the aesthetics and Visible Light factors of such glass.
This is where Selectivity comes in as an effective indicator that looks at the relationship between Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) and Solar Energy Transmittance – ie. Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC).
